                                                                         Hello My Name Is...

<Ms. Bouch>

I came to Hixson High School in the fall of 2013. Having taught everything from preschool to college course work, I've found working with individuals with special needs is my  passion.  With a team of teachers, I run the Developmental Communications Classroom and meet the needs of our diverse exceptional education population.  We teach individuals ages 14-22.  We teach all subject areas; concentrating on social skills, daily living and life skills, transition and vocational skills.  Our goal is for independence and self-advocacy; while building self-efficacy, a greater capacity for social and emotional learning, and situational awareness. I earned both my M.Ed. and B.S.Ed. from Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio and started my 23+ teaching career there.  I sit on the board of Directors for the Chattanooga Autism Center and continue to work in our community striving for greater autism awareness.

We have an exciting inclusion program ran out of our DCC classroom - Individual Growth iN an Inclusive Teaching Environment (IGNITE).  Typical peers serve as peer mentors to historically self-contained students allowing them access to general education classes; thus giving them a typical high school experience.
